The brief descriptions below are designed to familiarize you with our staff’s training, professional credentials and work experience.
Dr. Remi Morin was born and raised in Kapuskasing, Ontario. Rémi graduated with an honours degree in Biology at Laurentian University in Sudbury. Wanting to work in a more hands on field of health care, he then went on to study dentistry at the University of Montreal. After working a year in North Bay, Rémi is now thrilled to be a part of the team at Blackburn Dental Centre and enjoy all the great amenities and attractions that Ottawa has to offer. Dr Morin is always focused on patient comfort and has developed a reputation for having a gentle touch. One of Dr. Morin’s greatest joys in dentistry is the personal fulfillment he experiences from impacting a life by providing excellent dental care for his family of patients, both young and old.
Cheryl Stanly is a graduate of Algonquin College. She has over 30 years experience and has been practising at Blackburn Dental for 8 years. When not working, I am either training in my next half marathon, curling or cycling at the cottage. Her favorite thing about being a dental hygienist is caring for her patients and helping them achieve their oral health goals. Cheryl cherishes the relationships that she has built with her patients over the years.
Lisa Van Den Akerboom has worked at this practice for 10 years. Graduated from Algonquin College, she has over 20 years experience in the dental field. Lisa’s fun-loving spirit and serenity is the perfect remedy for the nervous, first-time dental patient. Lisa enjoys building lasting relationships with her patients, and has a warm and welcoming personality. Her passion for her work is undeniable and her reputation as a Dental Hygienist is firmly established. She grew up in Blackburn Hamlet. she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters.
Angela Lafaury graduated from cité collégiale and completed the level II training in dental assisting. Over the last 14 years, she continued to do further training and courses to acquire more knowledge on the latest dental treatments. she is fluent in english, french and portuguese. she also speak “un poco de espagnol”. As a busy mother of two, she likes to do yoga and exercise in her spair time. She also love to cook with her husband ( a foodie ) and travel when they get the chance.
Julie LaCasse, recently joined the Blackburn Dental Center team in March 2014. With over 16 years experience and over 10 years of oral surgery experience, her continuing education has been concentrated in all aspects of impact dentistry including a certification program of implant treatment coordinator. Always in a good mood, Julie loves the outdoors.
Cathy Wade has been a dental assistant for over 25 years. She spent a number of years in periodontics, oral surgery and has been working with Blackburn Dental Center for 7 years. When not at work, Cathy likes to travel and keep busy with her husband and two teenage boys.

The Ontario province-wide shutdown will not affect services provided by dentists and dental hygiene. The office will be closed for holidays from December 23rd, 2020 and reopening on Monday January 4th at which point we will reopen for regularly scheduled appointments.
